Mitzy Canessa, Sociology, is a dialogue and development facilitator. With over than18 years of experience in socio-environmental issues, she has designed and implemented multi-stakeholder dialogue processes between companies, communities, civil society and state. Additionally, Mitzy developed social studies, baselines of human environment, socio-economic analysis, social risk analysis of projects. Also, the design and implementation of strategies, plans and programs of community relations, social responsibility that provides services and consultancies to public and private entities. In the last 8 years, her professional activity has been focused in mining and energy industry with knowledge of local, national and Latin America conditions. She has conducted research in the field of socio-environmental conflicts and citizen participation of large investment projects. She has four years of teaching in lectures about environment and their surroundings, community relations, conflicts analysis and collaborative processes. She is currently in charge of the Technical Secretariat in the dialogue group of Latin America (GDL www.dialogolatinoamericano.org), regional integration initiative that has more than four years of formation, conveyed by eight Latin American countries which purpose is a democratic and equitable dialogue between governments, companies and civil society, to promote sustainable development, more transparency and best practices in public and private governance in the context of extractive industries. In addition, she coordinates the platform of mining dialogue and sustainable development in Chile, multi-stakeholder space for dialogue that has been formed three years ago.
